Dejuan’s Bio

Wild Heart Counseling was founded in 2025 by Dejuan Evans, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Dejuan earned her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University in 2016 and brings over 7 years of experience in the mental health field. Four of those years were spent working in county-based programs, where Dejuan had the privilege of supporting individuals with severe mental illness.

As a black woman and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I created Wild Heart Counseling with the vision of bringing together a community of like-minded, holistic therapists who are passionate about supporting individuals on their unique healing journeys. At Wild Hearts, we prioritize de-stigmatizing mental health and creating a space where every person can feel truly seen, heard, and comfortable in their own skin—just as they are.

Mental health has always been a priority in my own life. I sought out my first therapist at the age of 17, and the transformative support I received from the therapists who helped me along my journey continues to inspire me every day. Their guidance empowered me to become a beacon of change, and it is my hope to provide the same support and healing to others—especially those who, like me, have lived in the margins and faced challenges that others may not fully understand.

For years, I’ve walked the path of self-discovery, and like many who’ve survived the hidden corners of life, I understand what it’s like to rebuild and reclaim one’s voice, sense of self, and worth. These experiences continue to shape the empathy I bring to my practice, and I am committed to supporting individuals with the same compassion and respect that I was fortunate enough to receive.
